Standing out at a Career Faire can make a difference in your job search. Job Fairs are starting to pick up, and a major job search company is running some nice ones, called Targeted Job Fairs. At a Bay Area Career Faire in early 2010, 10 companies as showing up, and a major job search company has 82 career fairs scheduled for 2010 across the States.

How do you compete at a Career Faire? The contention can be significant, but you can help yourself leap out from the herd with early homework. At AA-Careers, we have a simple 6-step process to prepare. Planning to go? Here’s how to prepare:

First, research the companies that are going and pick your targets. Use the internet to check out the organizations that are there before you even decide to go. Go to their web sites and see if they have their jobs posted. Pick a tenable number to go after, and get ready to spend an hour researching each one. It’s hard to do more than nine in a day, and four or five is a much more reasonable target. For each hiring company, you want to know: key product lines, recent news, and executive names. Try to see if you know anyone at the target companies. You will end up with with a page or two of research for each company/job.

Second, if there are job openings on the web, read them to see what the company is looking for. Create a mapping of your achievements and skills to the requirements of the job. Make the terminology match. If the hiring organization calls customers "clients", your resume should do the same thing. The accomplishments should be written in the style of the hiring company.

Third, create a ‘short sales pitch’ for each likely company/position combination. Write down a 90 second ‘thumbnail’ that you can repeat verbally showing why you are a fantastic prospect for that job. You’ll use this in your resume and when you meet the team from the company at the job booth.

Fourth, modify your resume for each opportunity. The objective on your resume should exactly match the position you’re going after. The executive summary should be a written form of your “mini sales pitch” for the job. Then choose the accomplishments and skills that most clearly match the job description. Especially at a Career Faire, the purpose of your resume is a sales tool for you – to get you on-site job interviews. It should be obvious to see that you’re a match based on your resume.

Fifth, dress and prepare as if you’re doing on-site interviews. Dress well and be well groomed. Don’t over do-it (this isn’t a date!) and don’t underdress (no jeans or t-shirts, no matter how much you paid for them). Avoid strong cologne or perfume.

Finally, rehearse your ‘mini-sales-pitch’. Collect your research and the resume for each spot - bring a couple of copies for each – and put each in a understandably tagged folder. Keep them in a light briefcase or folio.

Remember to smile, and good hunting!

Something that is often found at the very bottom of the list whilst budgeting for an education is health insurance for students. Most students are at an age where the idea that they may need health insurance is the last thing they consider. Teenagers are likely to believe that they are immortal and that they can never find themselves suffering from an illness.

As we all know, regardless of how healthy an individual may appear, it is no guarantee of their future health. A student medical insurance plan isn’t merely a luxury, it is an essential.

Individuals who are included in a family policy are by and large covered up to their twenty-third birthday. For anyone who does not have cover via a parent’s insurance, obtaining an appropriate student health insurance plan should be a crucial part of preparing for a college education. What is essential in an insurance plan for college students? What’s a deductible? It’s an annual amount you must pay before the medical benefits begin, very like an auto insurance policy. To illustrate, if your deductible is 500 dollars, $500 must be paid prior to claiming financial benefits associated with your plan. So what precisely does co-pay mean? Once you have paid your deductible, usually for every trip to the doctor, medication, or procedure you will have to pay a pre-determined part of the bill. This is called a co-pay. What will the medical insurance plan include? Most plans are HMO and Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA). This means certain doctors might not be included in your list of health professionals and might not be covered under the insurance policy. Virtually all plans will include a detailed listing of participating professionals, be sure you take this into consideration when you are selecting a plan. What is catastrophic insurance coverage? Limits are frequent in medical insurance plans specifically for students as far as serious illnesses are concerned, and for most health insurance for college students, the cover is normally less than any regular medical insurance policy. Limitations: Affordable student health insurance policies may include certain limitations. It is very important to read any policy thoroughly to discover what may and may not be covered.

Have any medical insurance cards close to hand at all times. Accidents are not just not possible to predict, but they are regrettably likely to come about when you don’t expect them. So make sure you’re conversant with your insurance policy even should you be included in your parent’s policy.

Something that is usually at the bottom of the pile whilst preparing for a college education is health insurance for college students. In general, health insurance is not generally utmost in a student’s mind. As a student in your 20’s you will tend to think that you will be alive forever and you will not develop illness.

Unfortunately, irrespective of how fit a person might appear, it is no way to ensure their future health. A suitable health insurance plan is not only for the comfortably off, it’s absolutely essential. For those fortunate to be included in their parent’s insurance policy, almost all family policies should cover a student up to their 23rd birthday. For anyone who doesn’t have coverage through a family plan, a crucial part in budgeting for going to school should be researching inexpensive medical insurance. What’s essential in health insurance aimed at college students? So what’s a deductible? It’s a minimum yearly amount you have to pay before your health benefits starting, very similar to an auto deductible. To give an example, should the deductible be 500 dollars, you will have to pay that sum before applying for benefits linked with the plan. What does co-pay mean? Once you meet your deductible, nearly all insurance plans ask that you pay a portion of the bill of each doctor’s visit, medicine or procedure. This is termed a co-pay.

Just what will the medical insurance policy pay for? Many plans are Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA). In essence this can mean certain specialists might be excluded from your “network” or not be included on the medical insurance policy. Most policies should provide a detailed listing of approved professionals, so look at that before you pick out a medical policy designed for college students. What is catastrophic coverage? Do be mindful that there may be a restriction on medical insurance policies specifically for students particularly as far as serious illness, the amount of cover included in most student medical insurance policies is in general smaller than a standard plan.

Restrictions: Limitations are very commonplace in college student health insurance. Study your insurance policy and discover what your insurance policy covers. Carry any medical insurance details nearby at all times. It’s not only impossible to plan for an accident or illness, but they are regrettably likely to hit at a bad time. Ensure you’re acquainted with your college health insurance plan even if you are covered by a parent’s policy.

There has been tremendous growth in the medical billing industry. Hospitals, clinics and private practice physicians do not have the time and often times lack the knowledge to properly bill for their services. In these cases, they use a medical billing company.

There are also problems with patients and companies who do not agree with the bills submitted for payment. Someone has to justify all the fees billed to these individuals and companies before payment will be made. Some patients are not able or willing to pay their debts to the clinic, and arrangements have to be made to collect those fees or at least partial fees. A medical billing service can do collections and get paid for the clinic faster. They can increase payments and reimbursements from individuals and insurance companies.

Those who wish to advance can look into the possibility of specializing in a certain area (such as cancer billing) or becoming supervisors over a group of medical billing specialists. Most forms of advancement, however, require you to get further education.

Though there is a wide range of salaries for people working in medical billing services, most people make between $28,044 and $34,046 per year. Those with more experience and more qualifications will be on the higher end of the scale, and those with less experience and fewer qualifications will be on the lower end of the scale.

Is it wise to buy an insurance policy for your children? Is it really necessary? Parents often ponder over these questions.

Yes it is wise. Actually buying a policy of child life insurance leads your child’s life to a future that is financially secured. It helps to keep plans for your child’s carrier alive. Also, as they step into adulthood, the child life insurance policy builds cash value that supports your child’s life with a financial cushion.

Child life insurance policies are affordable as compared to any adult life insurance policies.

Many financial experts consider it as a foolish decision to spent money on any child life insurance policy. But let me tell you how important and beneficial a child life insurance policy could be.

1. In case your child suffers from illness that may take his/her life, you may be left with funeral and burial costs or may be even medical bills. So the pre existing life insurance proceeds could provide the extra cash you need to settle the worries.

2. In case of fatal illness of a youngster, you may have to bear huge medical expenses. So the juvenile or child life insurance policy’s proceeds can support the family with significant financial relief.

3. If your child develops any serious medical condition while he/she is uninsured, parents may find premiums to be expensive. However, early coverage results in significant cost-savings.

It is agreeable that children hardly show any significant contribution to family’s income, but purchasing some insurance policy for children can really give good financial support under certain events.

You can also collect information about the different child life insurance policies by shopping online and visiting several online insurance companies.

If you hesitate to get a separate life insurance policy for your child - then you can add a rider to your own life insurance policy. This will cost you few more but it will make your children future financially supported.

Not everyone needs life insurance. The first thing to do is make sure you need it. Life insurance is really meant for your family members or other dependents who rely on your earnings.

Why You Buy Life Insurance

You buy life insurance so that, if you die, your dependents can live the same kind of life they live now. Strictly speaking, then, life insurance is only a means of replacing your earnings in your absence. If you don’t have dependents (say, because you’re single) or you don’t have earnings (say, because you’re retired), you don’t need life insurance. Note that children rarely need life insurance because they almost never have dependents and other people don’t rely on their earnings.

Life Insurance Comes in Two Flavors

If you do need life insurance, you should know that it comes in two basic flavors: term insurance and cash-value insurance (also called “whole life” insurance). Ninety-nine times out of 100, what you want is term insurance.

Term Life is Simple to Buy and Understand

Term life insurance is simple, straightforward life insurance. You pay an annual premium, and if you die, a lump sum is paid to your beneficiaries. Term life insurance gets its name because you buy the insurance for a specific term, such as 5, 10, or 15 years (and sometimes longer). At the end of the term, you can renew your policy or get a different one. The big benefits of term insurance are that it’s cheap and it’s simple.

Cash Value is Trickier

The other flavor of life insurance is cash-value insurance. Many people are attracted to cash-value insurance because it supposedly lets them keep some of the premiums they pay over the years. After all, the reasoning goes, you pay for life insurance for 20, 30, or 40 years, so you might as well get some of the money back. With cash-value insurance, some of the premium money is kept in an account that is yours to keep or borrow against.

This sounds great. The only problem is that cash-value insurance usually isn’t a very good investment, even if you hold the policy for years and years. And it’s a terrible investment if you keep the policy for only a year or two. What’s more, to really analyze a cash-value insurance policy, you need to perform a very sophisticated financial analysis. And this is, in fact, the major problem with cash-value life insurance.

While perhaps a handful of good cash-value insurance policies are available, many perhaps mostare terrible investments. And to tell the good from the bad, you need a computer and the financial skills to perform something called discounted cash-flow analysis. If you do think you need cash-value insurance, it probably makes sense to have a financial planner perform this analysis for you. Obviously, this financial planner should be a different person from the insurance agent selling you the policy.

What’s the bottom line? Cash-value insurance is much too complex a financial product for most people to deal with. Note, too, that any investment option that’s tax-deductiblesuch as a 401(k), a 401(b), a deductible IRA, a SEP/IRA, or a Keogh planis always a better investment than the investment portion of a cash-value policy. For these two reasons, I strongly encourage you to simplify your financial affairs and increase your net worth by sticking with tax-deductible investments.

If you do decide to follow my advice and choose a term life insurance policy, be sure that your policy is non-cancelable and renewable. You want a policy that cannot be canceled under any circumstances, including poor health. (You have no way of knowing what your health will be like ten years from now.) And you want to be able to renew the policy even if your health deteriorates. (You don’t want to go through a medical review each time a term is up and you need to renew.)

Do you have many claims? If so, you should do all you can to reduce them or even endeavor to file no claims at all. Why do I bring this issue up in an article about lowering your auto insurance quote? Because the number of claims is the single factor that to the highest degree influences the cost of your insurance premium. Let me give you an example: Let’s say you have 5 years of no claim. Most companies will then give you an unbelievable discount of your premium, some of them even 75%! It goes without saying that this is the most powerful way to get cheap insurance.

How can an insurance company do this? Look at an insurance company as a big box of money dropped in by people who gets security in return. What the company does is simply to reallocate the money that is left when the payments for damages are deducted.

People that have many damages and file many claims, must pay a higher premium and thus get a higher car insurance quote. But a safe driver that avoid claims, is rewarded with a lower one. Fair enough?

If you are new to insurance - or even if you have had insurrances for some years, but feel you lack knowledge about it. - I’ll advice you to learn the basic auto insurance terminology, before you start to shop around. It can help you, not only to get a low cost insurance but also to make the correct coverage decisions for you. Let’s do a little test: Do you need PIP coverage? What does PD coverage mean? What is BI coverage?

Do not accept the first quote you get

If you ask an insurance company for a quote, you can be almost hundred percent sure you’ll get a better one from at least one other company. Comprehensive marketing research the recent years has shown that prices for a new six-month policy with comparable coverage can vary greatly between different companies. And we are talking about spreads in rates of at least $500

So, equipped with this knowledge both you and I know that it pays to do a little legwork and shop around for car insurance.

Most insurance companies have a form of questions you must provide answers to in order to get an understanding of your security situation. It is really astonshing, how much the criterias for determining the price can vary between companies. What one company may consider a high risk factor another company may view as a minor risk. So why not take a little time to compare rates for a number of different companies?

The first thing you should do before you start this comparison is to go through your insurance coverages and keep your auto insurance policy on hand. Then go online and start to shop around. The internet is probably the most comprehensive, fastest and easiest way to find a decent vehicle insurance quote.

And what’s even more incredible, many insurance companies now offer some great discounts for buying the policy over the web - a discount that come in addition to the no-claim discount described above.

How is this possible? To handle an insurance sale in general cost money for the companies. However, a sale on the internet will cost less money than selling it over the counter. They do not have to involve human resources if you purchase it online. Thus the companies save money on your internet purchase, and a part of this saving is passed on to you as a discount, a significant discount if you buy from the right company.
