Firm Lawyers Unaware of the Rothstein Scandal
Law firm Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler has employed renowned lawyer Kendall Coffey to represent the organization in what they perceive to be “very very difficult circumstances” caused by a crumbling investment venture made by the firm’s president, Scott Rothstein. The fiasco might be one of the biggest for this year.
Firm co-founder Stuart Rosenfeldt has stated he has no idea about Rothstein’s alleged investment con, and that Rothstein handled the firm finances by himself. Some legal observers find it a challenge to swallow. Attorney William Scherer had stated that those lawsuits are in the works against insurance policies banks, and Rothstein’s assets.
Attorney Kendall Coffey, a former U.S. attorney, was appointed to represent the firm just before the scandal broke. Coffey held the tour to present how other lawyers had no idea what Rothstein was doing. Anyone coming in Rothstein’s suite of offices had to use an intercom. If Rothstein wanted to leave without being seen, he could go out through a second door. In the hallway, what appears to be an ordinary looking brown door is actually the elevator door.
Kendall Coffey depicted that elevator as a strange feature not seen in any law firm. The structure has dozens of microphones and observation cameras, but they were deactivated a few days ago. Kendall Coffey however commented that federal agents were given admission to investigate whatever had been recorded earlier. He also commented that the law firm is trying to find answers and the sum of money involved. The lawyer also said the amount is significant, estimated to be about $100 million.
